Uruguay's Digital Government

Uruguay joined Digital Nations in 2018, becoming the first and only member from the Latin American and Caribbean region. Its membership reflects the country’s leadership in digital government, including significant progress in reducing the digital divide, expanding digital inclusion through initiatives such as Plan Ceibal, and advancing the digital transformation of public services. Uruguay has also demonstrated a strong commitment to building a more open, accessible, and citizen-centred government.

Uruguay is represented in Digital Nations by AGESIC, the Agency for Electronic Government and Information and Knowledge Society, which operates under the Office of the President of the Republic. Through its participation in the network, Uruguay shares its experience and achievements in digital government while contributing to international discussions on emerging opportunities and challenges.

Digital Nations provides Uruguay with a platform to collaborate with global leaders on issues such as the ethical use of artificial intelligence, digital identity, cybersecurity, digital citizenship, and digital health. By engaging in this exchange of knowledge and best practices, Uruguay continues to strengthen its digital capabilities and help shape the future of digital government worldwide.
